Incoming Student Auditions At your School!!!

The Poudre High School Music Department will be holding our incoming student auditions at your school this year. All 8th grade students who will be attending Poudre High School next year are encouraged to participate. See your current band director about when we’ll be coming to your school. We are very excited to have you coming to the Poudre, and participating in one of the finest music programs in the state! Here’s what we’d like you to prepare:

Choir Auditions

Please prepare a 2-3 minute prepared piece. Anything you’ve been working on in your choir or lessons is fine. Ms. Darland will be glad to listen to whatever you’ve got ready!

Orchestra Auditions

Please prepare a 2-3 minute prepared piece.  Anything you feel will display some technical playing and some lyrical playing (the Middle School Honor Orchestra audition music would be great!).  Mr. Stucky will also have you do some scales and sight reading.

Band Auditions

We have provided your director with audition music and scales for your instrument. This music is also available on the Poudre Band Website. Please play the requested prepared piece and scales. OR you could also play this year’s MIddle School Honor Band/Orchestra audition music. Either is fine. Mr. Petersen and Mr. Leonard will also have a short sight reading excerpt for you.

Important side note: You DO NOT have to audition to participate in the music program. If auditioning is something you’re not quite comfortable with, that’s fine. Tell your counselor to sign you up for Band, Choir or Orchestra, and we’ll get you placed in the appropriate ensemble. We want this to be a lot of fun for everybody.
