Colorado High School Coaches Association Induction Banquet

Rich Yonker, Carey Christensen, and Kendall Wilson attended the Colorado High School Coaches Association induction banquet Saturday night.

Randy Yaussi was inducted into the CHSCA Hall of Fame.  Since the organization began this recognition in 1964, Randy is the second coach from Poudre High School to receive this recognition.  Ron McClary was inducted in 1992.

Randy's coaching record includes: 27 years high school coach, boys and girls Track & Field, and Cross Country.  State Championships: Girls' Cross Country 1993, 1994, 1995; Boys' Cross Country 1990. Coaches 23 individual state champions in track and field.

Current PHS Cross Country Coach Maria Wankelman was hired on staff by Randy in 1996.  When she interviewed for the position, Randy's team had just won state several years in a row and won nationals.  "I asked Randy what his goal was for the upcoming season.  Randy told me he only has two goals every season: make sure the kids have fun and make them life-long runners.  Randy's words have become my coaching philosophy ever since."

This event was inspiring and reconfirmed why our work with student-athletes is so important.

Proud to be a Poudre Impala!
