Congratulations, PHS Mountain Bike Racers!

Seven Poudre High School students competed in Leadville at the Cloud City Challenge Bike Race.  They rode well through rain and cold at 10,200 feet in altitude against hundreds of riders from all over the state. They competed in a multi-lap race on a 5.9-mile course with approximately 630 feet of climbing per lap.  The team is coached and run under the umbrella of the Ciclismo Youth Foundation ( which coaches 28 riders from 5 high schools in Fort Collins.  Colorado is lucky to be one of only 7 States to have a High School mountain bike race league.  They have had 2 races so far and 2 more to go.  Poudre’s seven riders placed as follows:

Zach Woy  25th place, Boys JV
Cale Thornton 21st place, Boys Freshman
