State Thespian Conference in Denver

This weekend, Joel Smith, Kari Armstrong, and Beth Graham took 21 students to the State Thespian Conference in Denver. There, we had 17 acts compete with other students from around the state. Of those 17 acts, we had 7 students get top scores in the competition. If you see any of these students around, please congratulate them. They worked incredibly hard to get these accolades!

  • Zoe Volpa (Costume Construction)
  • Cecelia Herff (Costume design)
  • Breanne Johnson (Solo Musical Theatre)
  • Dane Fisher (Solo Musical Theatre)
  • Laura Lenczycki (Stage Management)
  • Clara Fernandez Odell (Lighting Design)
  • Julia Duffy (Solo Acting)

Above and beyond that, we had 3 students recognized for their efforts on the main stage, which means they were asked to perform (or be recognized) in front of 4,600 of their theatre peers a the conference. This recognition is a huge honor and is only awarded to the most spectacular student performers and technicians at the conference. Those students who were given this honor to be recognized by the "Critics Showcase" were:

  • Dane Fisher and Ben Wdowik, for their duet musical theatre number
  • Zoe Volpa for her best-in-conference costume construction.

We all had a great time, and are so proud of our kids!
