What is AVID at Poudre High School?

AVID stands for Achievement Via Individual Determination.  The target student population for the AVID program is students with a 2.5 - 3.2 GPA who have a strong desire to improve his or her study skills in preparation to apply to a four-year college.  Preference is given to students who will be the first in his or her family to attend college.  Students should have good attendance, an optimistic outlook, and feel as though access to tutoring and working with like-minded students would be beneficial.  This elective course is open to incoming freshmen and sophmores through an application and interview process. In ninth grade, those students who are accepted into the AVID program will have AVID in place of freshman seminar. Contact Lori Davis at 488-6142 with questions.
