In the 1970's, four student artists over a three-year period came together to create a mural in the 100 hallway of PHS that symbolizes a student’s journey through high school. They chose the evolution of the Beatles as a band to mirror and symbolize the student journey. This process is shown through the rise in personal passion and individuality in the members of the band, taking them from a group of similar men with shared interests and beliefs to four unique individuals with their own passions, a development that the artists believed was very similar to that of a high school student.
The final panel of the mural states, "High School: The Final Frontier...These have been the voyages of the P.H.S. graduate: on his/her three-year mission to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilization....to boldly go where everyone has gone before!"
