What are these exams?

The SAT is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test created and administered by the College Board. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is a test designed to help students practice for the SAT. It is also used to determine eligibility for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
The CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) is a computer based test used to indicate the degree to which students have mastered the Colorado Academic Standards at PHS.

My student was told that in order to access their scores, take practice tests, and more, they must log into their College Board account online.  Where can we find this online account?

https://www.collegeboard.org/
Please note that it is common for both students and adults to not remember their account login and password information.  For account login help, contact College Board at (866) 756-7346 |

Are there additional materials for my student to prepare for this exam in as little as 5-15 minutes each day?

Yes! This quick video shows you how to access Method Test Prep https://youtu.be/4PciIX7X138
Khan Academy is another resource https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/practice/khan-academy

What do I need to do as a parent/guardian to register my student for the PSAT, SAT, or CMAS?

Nothing.  All Colorado public school students are enrolled through Poudre High School.

How much does each exam cost?

Nothing.  The Colorado Department of Education covers all fees for Colorado public school students who take the exam at their school.  Please note this does not include other testing dates/sites.

I don't understand the reference for Impalas to "sock it to the test".

In effort to generate some school spirit and excitement around testing, PHS sells spirit socks each year in the spring.

How do we purchase spirit socks?

SchoolPay https://psdschools.schoolpay.com/

I have other questions regarding assessment, who can I contact at PHS?

Your student’s counselor, PHS Counseling Department (970) 488-6064 or  PHS Assessment Coordinator, Kendall Wilson (970) 488-6070 | kendallw@psdschools.org
