I recieved my Bachelor of Arts in English from Western State Colorado University in 2005. I completed my Master in Education with an emphasis in online education, also from Western State in the spring of 2016.
I was born in Amarillo, Texas in 1982. After high school, I briefly attended Amarillo Community College before moving to Gunnison to study at Western State. From Gunnison I moved to Fort Collins and took a job as a special education paraprofessional. I accepted my first teaching position in 2014 here at Poudre High School.
When I'm not working, I enjoy playing outdoors: hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, trail running, kayaking, backpacking and traveling with my amazing wife, son, and dog. I also enjoy music, martial arts, reading, and movies.

My goal is to foster a classroom based on respect for one's self, as well as respect for others. Respect leads to a safe environment, and a safe environment is most conducive to learning hard lessons about one's self. Everyday I write on the board what we are doing and why we are doing it. It is important to me that students understand why we are learning what we are learning. By understanding purpose, it is my belief that students are able to take more responsibility for their own learning and be successful while helping others to succeed alongside them.
