BS in Mathematics - Colorado State University
I am a Fort Collins native, a 1970 graduate of Poudre High School, and a 1974 graduate of Colorado State University. I returned to teach at Poudre in 1975, and I am the longest serving instructor in the Mathematics department. I've taught all levels of mathematics at Poudre, and I am proud to say that several of my former students have also come back to teach at Poudre. During my first ten years here I also served as the athletic trainer. I am currently the math contest coordinator for our school.
Married to my high school sweetheart, I have two daughters, and three grandchildren. Gardening is my main form of therapy. Time spent with a fly rod in hand on a small stream or pond is especially treasured, although too infrequent. I am a teacher of Scottish country dance, holding a certificate from the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society headquartered in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dancing since 1988, it is more than a hobby, closer to an obsession. My wife and I travel routinely to dance venues in the US, Canada, and Scotland where we have made many lasting friendships.
Algebra 2, AP Statistics, IB Standard Level Mathematics
Lecture, demonstration, and practice are the main components of my classroom. Much time is spent trying to show how multiple areas of mathematics are connected with unifying threads. I am known for a dry/caustic wit and my large collection of novelty ties.
