At Poudre High School, our goal is to prepare students for life after high school with critical thinking and problem solving skills. We offer a variety of math classes and within each math class, we strive to develop both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
For students who are pursuing post-secondary education, we offer many courses for college credit through Front Range Community College (FRCC) and AP/IB testing. In many cases, students can meet their college math requirements while still in high school. Students should check with the post-secondary schools in which they are interested to verify transfer of credits.
For students who do not intend to pursue post-secondary education, we strive to offer engaging alternative routes through their mathematics education. Students also have the opportunity to earn credits for math through computer science and tech ed courses, and should contact their counselors if they are interested in pursuing these options.
For students who struggle with mathematics, we strive to meet each student where they are and help them build confidence in their mathematical skills. We do not want mathematics to be a barrier to any student's post-secondary choices, and we offer many levels of support. Students should speak with their teachers or counselors if they are in need of extra support.
