Educational Background: 

I graduated from Colorado State University in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in History and Education. After teaching for a few years, I followed up with a Master’s in Education in 2005.

Biographical Sketch: 

I have been an Impala since the 1998-99 school year!! My husband taught math at Poudre for 15 years and is currently a Dean of Students. We have three wonderful and energetic children: a daughter in 9th grade and two sons, one in 7th grade, one in 5th grade. I coached track for 13 years at Poudre, but even though running is my passion, I had to give up coaching in order to raise my children. I have also been involved with the Speech and Debate team on and off throughout my career. I truly love my job and the diversity at Poudre High School. I want my students to understand that they are empowered through education. I want them to make good choices that positively affect their lives. I want my students to accept the challenge of being in control of their own education, to live their lives striving to reach self-set high expectations and goals, both personally and educationally. I want my students to become better prepared to enter an ever-changing world, equipped with knowledge and confidence, becoming productive members of society. I believe that learning is an organic process, interactive. My students and I will learn together.

Courses Taught: 

This year, I teach the junior level United States Literature class as well as the junior level Advanced Placement Composition and Language and the senior level Advanced Placement Composition and Literature. In the past, I have also taught Honors United States Literature, World Literature, Basic Speech, Basic Composition, 20th Century United States Literature, Journalism, and Freshman Seminar.
