Hi! 

My name is Zach Bennett. My background before education is all science related. My undergraduate degree was a dual major in Biochemistry and Zoology for SUNY Oswego. I went there as an out of state student from middle of nowhere Pennsylvania. At the time, my focus was fully on Conservation Sciences and how to work in a lab or at a zoo to protect species. I moved to Fort Collins in hopes to continue this at CSU, but a different path opened up for me. Instead of doing my masters at CSU, I received a masters in Biology from UNC. What changed was I continued tutoring (which I had done all through college), and was introduced to being a paraprofessional. I had a few odd jobs when I moved, but I was hired at Poudre High School as a para. I was still working on my masters in biology, but education quickly became the priority. 

I completed that masters and immediately applied through Regis University for a masters in Special Education, all while working full time as a para. When I finished this, I was lucky to be hired at PHS in our Multi-cat position. Now I can bring science, inclusion and support into so many more areas, and encourage students to think about conservation like I do. 

Finally, a major part of my career has been Unified sports. I value inclusion and pride, confidence, and a million other words that it brings to my students (and myself), when we go on the field. I currently am the assistant Unified Flag Football coach, support Unified Basketball, and the head Unified Soccer Coach.
