PSD: Pathways

At PHS, the IB Middle Years Program (MYP) philosophy is implemented in all classrooms.  In the IB Pre-Diploma pathway students can expect classes that move at a quick pace, an increase in reading and writing, and to complete service hours and a personal project.  This pathway encourages students to consider different perspectives, promotes understanding of other cultures and ideas, and prepares students with the skills needed to be successful in whatever path they choose whether it is the IB Diploma Program, AP, Concurrent Enrollment or general education courses.

The mission of Poudre’s Health and Human Services Pathway is to develop students’ ethic of service and leadership skills.  Students have the opportunity to focus on their area of interest, whether it be education, health, or other service-related field in order to learn social responsibility and civic awareness with the ultimate goal of impacting positive change in their world.  This pathway utilizes hands-on, project-based curriculum in which all students have the opportunity to learn and become responsible, productive citizens of the 21st Century.  A Certificate of Civic Education or Meritorious Service endorsement is earned through the completion of Service Learning, International Business and Capstone (bolded below).

The mission of Poudre's Entrepreneurship pathway is to prepare our students to pursue a university degree or career in business by offering a comprehensive and challenging curriculum in entrepreneurship, marketing, and business management.  In this pathway students will develop projects in areas of specialized interest-such as fashion merchandising, advertising, sports and entertainment marketing, travel and tourism, or international business.  Business plan competitions, internships, workshops, and leadership opportunities are all a part of the course experience.

The mission of Poudre’s Engineering and Design pathway is to advance students’ ability to innovate, think critically, and collaborate to solve problems.  This pathway combines rigorous academic core content with demanding technical education and real world experiences.  Courses provide students the opportunity to apply STEM knowledge, skills, and habits of mind to make the world a better place through innovation.

The mission of Poudre’s Arts Pathway is to ensure the educational success for all students by having a rigorous arts program that utilizes hands-on, project-based curriculum in which all students have the opportunity to learn and become responsible, productive citizens of the 21st Century.

The mission of Poudre’s Agriculture Education Pathway is to expose students to the ever-growing agriculture industry.  Utilizing hands-on, project-based curriculum, students have the opportunity to learn about agriculture in a variety of contexts including animal sciences, plant sciences, natural resources, and agricultural mechanics.  Students will gain a strong foundation in STEM skills such as inquiry, collaboration, and innovation to better prepare them to be productive citizens of the 21st Century.
